Spectrum Designs Foundation and Nicholas Center Celebrate the King Family as the 2019 Night in White honorees!

The King family - Loren and Wayne, along with their children Christina and Andrew and Christina's fiancé, John Terzo, are an integral part of the history and success of the two organizations. Co-Founder, Stella Spanakos met the King's when their children, Nicholas and Andrew, both of whom are on the Autism spectrum, attended school together from Kindergarten through graduation. The pair advocated side by side to ensure that their sons and fellow classmates were integrated into the fabric of the school, attending school activities and functions with the other students. When the idea of Spectrum Designs and Nicholas Center took root in 2011, the King's were very supportive. Today, the organizations are flourishing and both Nicholas and Andrew have a big part in that success! In addition to being a stellar employee at Spectrum Designs, Andrew is a painter, like his mother. His beautiful art hangs in the offices of Spectrum Designs and Nicholas Center. Loren and Wayne are very active with helping the organizations grow and succeed. Christina has joined the Sibling Society, which gives voice to the shared experience of having a sibling on the spectrum. Congratulations to the King family on this well-deserved honor! And, thank you for all you do!

Spectrum Designs Foundation and Nicholas Center Offer Life-Changing Autism Initiatives.

The Mission: Helping individuals with Autism lead full and productive lives through the world of work and in the community.

Founded in 2011, Spectrum Designs Foundation is a social enterprise supporting Autism employment. The organization operates 3 businesses and offers vocational training and productive employment opportunities to a deserving, capable and eager population. Autism is a lifelong disability that affects the way one socializes, communicates and interacts with the world around them. Once school-based services finish at age 21, individuals with Autism face a 90% unemployment and under employment rate. Working with educational partner, Nicholas Center, the two organizations support individuals with Autism in their place of work and in the community, where they participate in and assist myriad local businesses and non-profit organizations. The businesses- custom apparel and promotional items, gourmet granola and a boutique laundry are flourishing, due in large part to the integrated workforce and a supportive environment. As a non-profit, all proceeds go towards advancing the mission. Thank you for supporting our important work.
